What is the purpose of this site?
LarimerCO has two goals:

• To provide a comprehensive resource for Larimer County residents seeking information about resources, events and businesses in their area. Carefully selected global web links and tools are also provided, so that local residents may use LarimerCO as their starting point for any journey into the World Wide Web.

• Secondly, we hope to instill in visitors from outside the area just a little appreciation for the grandeur of the area's mountains, the diversity of wildlife, the prolific cultural attractions, the amicable environment for country or city living, and the unending business and employment opportunities, so that cyber-visitors are inspired to come see the area in person.

What do you offer that I can't find at a million other sites?
We have endeavored to make LarimerCO as inter-active as possible, so everyone interested in this area, either as resident or visitors, can exchange ideas, observations, views and suggestions. No other site offers such participatory opportunities targeted to this area. We also provide for the contribution of content by our visitors, in the form of articles and photographs -- so as to provide a diversity of views and opinions from those who know best -- visitors and residents who live and work and play in the area. Unlike most sites soliciting input, we actually offer an incentive for people to join in and participate, by awarding points for activities that contribute to the site.

We also have made this site customizable by the user. Even if you are not a member, you can change the font-size to whatever text level is most legible for you. Members can permanently set those properties, as well as color preferences. Content articles have 'share with a friend' and 'printer friendly' buttons so you take full advantage of all the information provided. Members get their own Control Panel to change their settings, track their points, contact other members, and more.

So what good are these points you mention?
Points are awarded for site participation, a few points for answering surveys, more for submitting comments, and even more for contributing articles or photographs. Points awarded for each activity are available from member's control panel. Points may be exchanged for service upgrades (Premier Membeship), gifts (listed in VIRCON section), and valuable cupons.

Why should I become a member?
As mentioned above, members enjoy the benefit of personalizing the site with their own font size and color preferences. Only members can contribute content or participate in the feedback process, since we need to have member information in order to award and keep track of points earned. Best of all, membership is FREE.

If I join will I be flooded with junk mail?
No, we don't like junk mail any more than you do. We do want to provide you with the opportunity to learn about special offers and discounts from our supporting advertisers on an occasional basis -- but we will NEVER send more than one email per month, and you may even opt-out of that (from your control panel) if you wish. Your email address and personal information will not be released directly to advertisers or anyone else.

Is this site safe for my children to visit?
Yes, we review ALL input to the site prior to posting, and will not allow any foul language or hateful messages. We do not accept pornographic advertising or input of any kind, nor any suggestions or advice on illegal or immoral activities.
